About the role

Juspay is hiring a Backend Engineer to work on core payment infrastructure powering hundreds of millions of daily transactions. You'll build and evolve business logic for UPI, authentication, and payment integrations using functional programming, contributing to frameworks that need to stay reliable at extreme scale rather than just correct in the average case.

What you'll do

Build business logic to handle evolving payment requirements - UPI, third-party integrations, authentication - with flexibility as rules change

Design and build APIs and handle complex, high-stakes transaction workflows

Architect and enhance internal frameworks using functional programming principles

Contribute to intelligent payment routing and automated anomaly detection systems

Ensure implementations stay clean, maintainable, and reliable under real transaction volume

What we're looking for

0 - 3+ years of relevant experience

Strong interest in functional programming and building expressive, maintainable frameworks

Experience solving reliability and performance problems that only show up at large scale

Comfort building low-code/no-code platforms within a broader engineering framework

Ability to design self-service features that let internal/external users safely customize application behaviour

Enthusiasm for managing integrations with merchants of varying size with zero issues
