About the role
PostHog is hiring a Europe/UK-based ingestion pipeline engineer to own the infrastructure capturing tens of billions of events a month, processing that data reliably for product analytics, feature flags, and CDP. You'll own the entire service end-to-end, working in the hot path where your code directly determines whether customers and engineers have a good experience.
What you'll do
Own the entire ingestion service end-to-end, with no committees or overzealous PMs involved
Build and maintain open-source software using a mix of Node.JS and Rust for high-throughput processing
Develop infrastructure to capture, process, and reliably provide data to other parts of PostHog's platform
Work with Kafka, PostgreSQL, Clickhouse, S3, and Redis, re-evaluating technology choices as data volume grows
Team is spread across North America and Europe

What we're looking for
0++ years of relevant experience
Experience working with highly scalable, event-driven distributed systems
Experience developing multi-tenant software-as-a-service products
Experience with Node.JS, Go, Rust, or similar languages
Experience working with Kafka and PostgreSQL, Redis, or similar systems at scale
Ability to ship changes quickly without breaking things
Nice to have
Experience with customer data platforms or similar data analytics systemsHaving carried a pager and dealt with incidentsComfort provisioning and maintaining cloud infrastructureExperience with benchmarking and profiling tools
