About the role
Slice is hiring a Lead Platform Engineer to drive initiatives that improve developer experience, accelerate release cycles, and build scalable internal platforms. This hands-on engineering and strategy role emphasizes building tools and frameworks that directly impact developer velocity, leading the Platform Engineering team's vision and execution roadmap.
What you'll do
Lead the Platform Engineering (Developer productivity) team, setting the vision and execution roadmap
Design and build internal tools/platforms that optimize CI/CD, testing frameworks, and infrastructure automation
Drive adoption of cloud-native solutions including Kubernetes, AWS, and ephemeral environments
Partner with engineering leaders to align developer experience initiatives with org-wide goals and OKRs
Mentor engineers, foster innovation, and build a culture of experimentation and learning
What we're looking for
6++ years of relevant experience
6+ years in software engineering with at least 2 years in platform or developer productivity roles
Strong expertise in Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD pipelines, Spinnaker/Jenkins/ArgoCD, and Infrastructure as Code
Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks, dynamic test selection, and code quality gates
Strong coding skills in Go, Python, or Java, with Go preferred for tooling and frameworks
Proven track record of leading small teams and mentoring engineers
Nice to have
A background in Google Summer of Code or open-source software contributionsExperience designing ephemeral environments and monitoring/observability tools
