About the role
Freshworks is hiring a Lead Data Scientist to pioneer GenAI applications in employee engagement, transitioning IT services from traditional dashboards into an interactive, conversational experience backed by real-time streaming data. You'll build a conversational servicebot designed to scale across 1 million+ monthly active users, solving complex Text2Action problems and detecting anomalous behavior in real time.
What you'll do
Partner closely with product and business teams to align data science initiatives with organizational objectives
Conceptualize, experiment, and design intelligent systems powered by GenAI
Own ML pipelines end to end - data pre-processing, model generation, cross-validation, feedback integration
Collaborate with ML Engineers to design scalable, low-latency real-time ML/AI services
Define and monitor key performance metrics reflecting value delivered through GenAI solutions
What we're looking for
7++ years of relevant experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
Minimum 7 years of relevant industry experience
Proven track record deploying ML projects into production systems
Hands-on experience with NLP, prompt engineering, LLMs, transformers, and knowledge graphs
Proficiency in Big Data technologies - distributed programming frameworks like Hadoop and Spark
Nice to have
Solid background in at least two of: statistical ML, deep learning, distributed systems, graph algorithms, constraint optimization, signal processing
