About the role
Multiverse is hiring a Senior AI Engineer for its AI Transformation team, whose mandate is to rebuild how the company works from the core out - not bolt AI onto the edges. On a small, flat, fast-moving squad, you'll own complete agent systems end-to-end, from architecture through production operation, working closely with the wider engineering org building Multiverse's customer-facing product.
What you'll do
Own and deliver complete agent systems - architecture, implementation, evaluation, and production operation
Design context and retrieval strategies, including chunking logic and conversation memory
Build evaluation frameworks covering accuracy, safety, helpfulness, and domain-specific quality
Design tool integrations - MCPs, APIs, data contracts, and reliable error handling
Use Claude Code as the team's primary development workflow, mentoring others in AI-assisted development
What we're looking for
5++ years of relevant experience
Shipped AI systems serving real users at meaningful scale, with genuine agent-engineering depth beyond wrapping LLM APIs
Strong context management skills - retrieval strategies, chunking, conversation memory, summarisation, and their cost/quality trade-offs
Experience with model selection and routing based on capability, latency, cost, and reliability
Practical evaluation-engineering experience - building automated eval pipelines and human-in-the-loop review processes
Full-stack delivery ability across LLM integration, backend services, data pipelines, and enough frontend to ship end-to-end
Nice to have
Experience building AI systems in EdTech, regulated content, or compliance/accreditation-sensitive domainsBackground as a founding or early-stage engineer at a startupPublished thinking or external contributions in AI engineering (talks, writing, open source)Practical experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or equivalent agent integration standards
